Margie Lachman, Ph.D. is Minnie and Harold Fierman Professor of Psychology and director of the Lifespan Lab at Brandeis University. She is author of Primetime: A New Vision for Midlife (Simon Element, 2026). She is editor of the Handbook of Midlife Development (2001, John Wiley) and is co-editor of Multiple Paths of Midlife Development (1997, University of Chicago Press) and the American Psychological Association’s Handbook on Adult Development and Aging, (2026, APA). She is co-investigator on the groundbreaking longitudinal study, Midlife in the United States (MIDUS), a large 30-year national study that gives insight into varied pathways to health and well-being and how lives unfold in the transitions into and out of the middle years. Lachman received the Distinguished Research Achievement Award from the Division on Adult Development and Aging of the American Psychological Association, and the Distinguished Career Contribution to Gerontology Award and the Distinguished Mentor Award from the Gerontological Society of America. Lachman has presented her research on TV and radio shows including NBC Today, CBS morning and evening news, CBS Sunday Morning, and NPR.
